Pundit cites special Sancho trait benefitting two Man Utd stars

Former Liverpool and Manchester City star Dietmar Hamann has hailed Manchester United’s capture of Jadon Sancho and believes he will bring the best out of two Red Devils players.

Sancho, 21, finally completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford this week. He has long been linked with the Theatre of Dreams having left Manchester City’s youth set-up for Germany in 2017. The north-west giants paid £73m for the England international who has inked a five-year deal with th club.

There is an option for another year to be tagged on and it would be no surprise if that happened. Reaction to the transfer has been positive.

Former United striker Wayne Rooney has had his say and predicts the new arrival could spearhead a title challenge.

“City, Chelsea the Champions League winners, Liverpool, there are some very good teams. But you can see with Manchester United they are getting gradually better,” the Derby manager said.

“I think they will be in a place where they really will challenge next season.”

And Hamann was equally as enthusiastic about the winger, tipping him for big things.

“It’s a big season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United too and I expect Jadon Sancho to be a star at Old Trafford,” he told the Racing Post (via The Mirror). “I’ve rarely seen a winger who can beat his man so easily, he drops the shoulder and just walks past defenders.”

Sancho ‘best in the world’

Sancho scored 50 goals from 137 appearances in all competitions for BVB. He has also bagged three for England, winning 22 caps for the Three Lions.

But his contribution goes way beyond just statistics. The German feels he will have a positive influence throughout the United ranks, with two players in particular benefitting.

“Sancho could galvanise the likes of Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba at United too,” he added. “Having watched him in the Bundesliga, he makes other players better, creating chances and pulling defenders out of position, and we saw glimpses of that in England’s quarter-final win against Ukraine at Euro 2020.”

And the man who won the Champions League with Liverpool is adamant he is peerless out wide at present.

“I was surprised that he was on the periphery of the tournament, he would be my first choice as a manager,” he continued.

“In my view, not only is Sancho England’s best winger, he’s the best winger in world football and United fans should be very excited about his return to Manchester.”
