Pundit claims Levy being fooled by cruel Pochettino plan over Tottenham return

Simon Jordan believes that Mauricio Pochettino is leading Tottenham on over a return, in a bid to get more power at Paris Saint-Germain.

Spurs are still on the hunt for Jose Mourinho’s replacement in the dugout after sacking the Portuguese in April. Despite several setbacks over the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Pochettino’s potential return has come as a big boost. Indeed, the PSG boss is supposedly ‘seriously considering’ a return to north London.

Furthermore, reports have added that the Argentine has held talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports has claimed that Tottenham’s players feel ‘excited’ at the prospect of Pochettino returning.

According to ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan, however, the Argentine has ulterior motives on his mind.

I think there’s a power play going on,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“I think Pochettino is using Tottenham as a stalking horse to perhaps insert greater influence into what is reputed to be quite a difficult environment to work in – PSG’s chain of communication, the line of command, the lack of access to the ultimate controlling influence which is the money, and historically the relationship that managers have with Leonardo.

“I realise that we may be seeing a more measured and balanced Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea as a result of experiences, but if you roll back six or seven months he was at odds with the PSG hierarchy and at odds with Leonardo, so it doesn’t surprise you that there may be challenges in the way they interact with one another.

“I still find it difficult to comprehend the notion that Pochettino will come back to Tottenham, and why either party would really, really want that.”

Speaking to Europe 1, PSG sporting director Leonardo insisted that Pochettino is going nowhere this summer.

He said: “Mauricio Pochettino has two years on his contract with PSG, and we are very happy.”

Midfielder open to Tottenham transfer

Elsewhere, Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko says that he could entertain a move away this summer.

The Frenchman has proved a fantastic signing and has become a leader in the Spurs dressing room.

However, after five years in north London, he has said that he is open to a new challenge.
