Real Madrid ace’s exit decree rouses Everton, Leeds; likely destination revealed

A report suggests that Real Madrid’s Marcelo, who was linked with Everton and Leeds United in the summer, will be on the move in 2022 and his most likely destination has been named.

Everton have made a habit of signing players from La Liga in recent years. Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes all arrived from Barcelona.

Leeds have also recruited well from Spain. Junior Firpo, Rodrigo and Diego Llorente were all bought from La Liga.

Both sides were linked with Marcelo in the summer, and it does look as if he will move. The Brazilian has apparently told Real Madrid he wants to leave at the end of his contract in the summer, per El Nacional (via Liverpool Echo).

Though Everton and Leeds may be dealt a blow, as the report states Marcelo is most interested in a move back to Brazil.

The full-back began his career at Fluminese, before moving to the Spanish capital.

As such, it seems Fluminese is the most likely destination for Marcelo. With the report stating that the club are waiting for Marcelo to make a decision to return.

Though Marcelo himself is still yet to make a comment on his future.

Furthermore, there may still be hope that he will move to the Premier League. Nothing is set in stone regarding his career path.

Though at 33 years of age, it seems unlikely that he would want to tackle the Premier League.

Everton eyeing fresh talent

Everton are one of a number of teams that are interested in acquiring the services of Jesse Lingard. Apparently, Everton have the edge above other clubs in the hunt for Lingard’s signature.

That is due to the 28-year-old’s desire to remain in the north-west.

Though due to Financial FairPlay, the Toffees would have to generate money through selling some players in order to sign Lingard.

As such, it is unclear whether they will be able to attempt to sign the star.
