Rebuilding champions eye Man Utd misfit as ideal loan reinforcement
Inter Milan are interested in signing Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United this summer, according to a report.
Van de Beek joined Man Utd from Ajax last summer and was a significant investment. However, things have not gone to plan so far for him at Old Trafford. He may have scored on his Premier League debut, but since then, opportunities have been few and far between.
The Dutchman only started four league games in his first season with United. And to top off his disappointing year, he had to withdraw from the Netherlands squad for Euro 2020 due to injury.
Thus, he will be hoping for a new lease of life next season. United still have him under a long-term contract but could be forced to make a decision on his future.
An ideal solution could be to send him away on loan. Via that method, Van de Beek would be able to find more gametime, without United potentially having a regretful situation.
Now, according to Todofichajes, one potential suitor for the 24-year-old has emerged. Inter Milan would like to take him on loan for the season.
After winning Serie A last season, Inter are having to rebuild their squad due to financial troubles. Head coach Antonio Conte has already left and so too will full-back Achraf Hakimi.
They have already signed one attacking midfielder, Hakan Calhanoglu, on a free transfer from AC Milan. But they could go into the transfer market for another depending on what the future holds for Christian Eriksen.
At present, it is not fair to speculate what might happen for the Danish playmaker following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020. However, Italian rules state that any player fitted with a heart device, as he since has been, cannot play in their league for their own safety.
Therefore, Inter will probably have another space to fill in their squad. As such, Van de Beek could fill it.

Van de Beek heading for Milan?
It seems the Italian city is a strong potential destination for Van de Beek. Not only has he been linked with Inter, he has also been linked with their city rivals.
AC Milan were also recently suggested as suitors for the player as they look to replace Calhanoglu.
Corriere Dello Sport claimed he could help provide a solution, even though his role is slightly different to that of the man who departed.
United and Milan have already established a line of communication, as Diogo Dalot made a similar move for the 2020-21 season. Therefore, they may discuss Van de Beek as well.
But the latest updates suggest Inter are also aware of the player’s situation and thus they could rival each other in the transfer market as well as on the pitch.
