Resurgent striker receives two offers that may see Arsenal gamble backfire
An Arsenal striker hitting the headlines for his displays on the pitch has received two direct approaches to move within the Premier League, per a report.
After a shaky start, Arsenal appear to be heading in the right direction this season. A cluster of young stars ages 23 and under were signed in the summer. They, along with several senior Gunners stars have combined well in recent weeks to turn their on-field fortunes around.
One veteran player performing to a high level is Alexandre Lacazette.
The Frenchman, 30, bagged a last-gasp injury time equaliser to snatch a point against Crystal Palace. He followed that up with an all-action display against Aston Villa as Dean Smith’s side were dispatched 3-1.
But Arsenal fans may not see those types of heroics from Lacazette in a Gunners shirt for much longer.
Lacazette is in his current contract’s final year and thus far, there’s been little sign an extension will be signed.
Mikel Arteta did state “anything is possible” when speaking about the possibility of a new deal for his forward. But at present, all signs point towards an exit in the coming windows.
The Daily Star recently claimed Newcastle are in the mix for Lacazette’s signature as a potential free agent. The cash-rich Magpies would be able to offer a high sign-on fee and salary, and deem a move as ‘realistic’.
West Ham have also been namechecked as a potential landing spot. Michail Antonio remains their only senior recongised centre-forward and has struggled with injuries in the past.
Now, Caught Offside (citing a Spanish report), claim both those clubs have already ‘transferred their proposals’ to Lacazette’s camp.
If either club succeed, Lacazette would be handed the opportunity to prove Arsenal wrong for not renewing his deal at close quarters.

Arsenal forward ‘unhappy’ despite new contract intentions
Meanwhile, Arsenal want any new deal for Eddie Nketiah to run for three seasons, but the striker still has one reservation, according to one reporter.
Nketiah is back in the news after returning to the scoresheet for Arsenal on Tuesday. He marked his third appearance of the season with a goal in their win over his former side Leeds in the Carabao Cup.
Out of contract at the end of the season, Nketiah is facing a crossroads in his career. He has reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Aston Villa, Brentford and Leeds themselves, who would be willing to give him a second chance after a quiet loan spell in the 2019-20 season.
But Arsenal are still trying to convince him to stay. That’s despite the lack of gametime Arteta has given him so far this term.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Arsenal want to give Nketiah a new, three-year deal, showing their faith in him for the future.
However, the England under-21 record scorer is “unhappy” at the club due to his lack of gametime. The London-born forward, who debuted in 2017, has 67 appearances to his name for the club overall. Therefore, he will “only” sign a new deal if there is a feeling he will be given a more prominent role.
