Rivaldo says Mbappe can help Real Madrid compete in Europe again

Kylian Mbappe is out of contract at PSG at the end of the season – and Rivaldo reckons the Frenchman should see out his deal before joining Real Madrid.

Since the transfer window has shut, the speculation surrounding Mbappe has only intensified, especially after his most recent comments about wanting to leave over the summer.

Rivaldo believes Mbappe has handled the situation well and thinks Real would be the perfect move for the 22-year-old once he does move on.

“PSG’s French forward recently mentioned that he wants to leave the club and we all know that his wish is to move to Real Madrid soon, especially after Lionel Messi’s arrival that overshadowed his role at the club,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

“But I must say that Mbappe is being very professional, keeping his commitment with the team and giving his best on the pitch.”

Mbappe is currently PSG’s top goalscorer and assister in Ligue 1, with four goals and three assists in nine league appearances so far this season.

And Rivaldo thinks the Frenchman would be best staying at PSG for the rest of the season and trying to win the Champions League, before moving on next summer.

“There are rumours about when he will leave the club – January or end of contract – but I think the best thing for him would be ending the season at PSG, trying to win the Champions League and leaving the club with such an achievement.

“Playing with Neymar and Messi grow his chances and it could be the best strategy for him, but we must consider that PSG might want some income with his transfer in January, so, it’s tough to understand now how this story is going to end.”

Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Real Madrid in 2018, Madrid have not made it past the semi-finals of the Champions League – but Rivaldo thinks that Mbappe will be the man to bring back the biggest prize to the Bernabeu.

“If he goes to Real Madrid, I believe he will become a star in La Liga and help the most successful team in Champions League history to chase the European titles that are missing since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.”
