Three Euro giants put Man City ace on wish list as replacement for departing stars

Three European clubs have reportedly put Manchester City star Bernardo Silva on their wish lists as a potential replacement for players who could move on this summer.

Silva is enjoying a great campaign with Pep Guardiola’s side. He has played in 43 games in all competitions, registering 11 goals and five assists.

The attacking midfielder is helping Manchester City hunt Premier League and Champions League glory.

However, he could end up leaving the Etihad later this year to move closer to his family in Portugal.

During an interview with Portuguese source Channel 11 in March, Silva said: “I miss Portugal a lot. If I could go back in a year or two, I would.

“Not only because I would like to play for Benfica again, but because I miss my family and living in Portugal very much.”

The 27-year-old is unlikely to take a step down in his career right now by re-joining Benfica. However, he could secure a transfer to Spain as this would make it easier for him to visit his family in Portugal.

Bernardo Silva linked with clubs all over Europe

Sports Mole, who cite reports in Spain, provide an update on Silva’s future. They claim three teams with glittering trophy cabinets are ‘closely monitoring’ his situation.

The first is Barcelona. They have been eyeing Silva’s signature for a ‘long time’ and could finally bid for him once the transfer window reopens.

The Spanish outfit may lose Ousmane Dembele once his contract expires on June 30. And Silva is on their list of potential replacements.

The playmaker certainly looks like he has the attributes to excel at the Nou Camp. Guardiola is getting the best out of him, meaning it should be a seamless transition should he join Barca.

Unfortunately for Xavi’s side, they are not alone in pursuing Silva.

Paris Saint-Germain have supposedly earmarked the Portuguese as an attacking signing. They will have space on the wage bill if Kylian Mbappe or Neymar leave the Parc des Princes this year.

Of course, Silva is a far different player to Mbappe, Neymar and even Dembele. But capturing him from City could allow Barca or PSG to take their style in a different direction.

The final club hoping to land Silva is Juventus. Paulo Dybala couldn’t come to an agreement over a new contract in Turin and will leave as a result.

It could be argued Dybala has the most similarities with Silva, rather than the other players he has been tipped to replace.

However, financial constraints may hold Juve back. They spent upwards of £58million on Vlahovic in January and are unlikely to repeat this during the next window.

Plus, City would want to recoup all of the £43.5m they paid for Silva in 2017.
