Tottenham star ‘interested’ as he is made a ‘priority’ transfer next summer
Nice have made it a “priority” to re-sign Hugo Lloris on a free transfer next summer, according to a report in France.
The Spurs goalkeeper will be a free agent in the summer of 2022 and in fact can speak to interested foreign clubs from January 1. Lloris, 35, looks set to move on with no breakthrough regarding a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In September the veteran admitted that there had been no talks over extending his time at the club.
Spurs historically have been reluctant to offer long-term deals to players in their 30s. Lloris though has put in a string of man-of-the-match performances in recent months.
In fact the Tottenham skipper has managed seven clean sheets in 19 Premier League games to date. And four of those have come under Antonio Conte’s tutelage.
The Italian coach has though been coy over whether Lloris has been offered a new deal.
“Now we’ll see but I think Hugo won’t be ever a problem for Tottenham,” Conte said recently.
“Hugo is our captain, he is a player that played for Tottenham for many years and we are all happy to have him in our team, in the squad and in the dressing room.”

Lloris ‘interested’ in return
However, Lloris’ former club Nice have their sights firmly on the player, who was born in the southern French city.
Footmercato reports that Nice are hoping to get Lloris back to France when his Tottenham contract expires at the end of the season,
Lloris began his career at Nice, making 78 senior appearances before joining Lyon in 2008. And with Walter Benitez potentially leaves Nice the French Riviera club will be looking for a replacement.
Nice are ready to “jump” at the opportunity to land the experienced keeper on a free transfer. And what’s more, the French outlet claim Lloris “is interested in the idea of returning”.
