West Ham put offer on table for ex-Man Utd man with buy-back clause

West Ham United have put on an offer on the table for former Manchester United attacker Adnan Januzaj, claims a report.

The 26-year-old forward remains under contract with Real Sociedad, but his existing deal expires next summer.

Sociedad are keen to keep the Belgium international, but as yet he has “not yet responded to the renewal offer”. And a report from Todo Fichajes suggests that West Ham and Fenerbahce have laid out their intentions.

Sociedad are understood to be concerned that Januzaj may be tempted by the lure of another chance in the Premier League.

And, per the source, he recently opened the door on a transfer: “Continue with Real? I would like to, I have always felt good here, like at home, but a lot can happen.”

The Hammers have been quick to see the opportunity, and according to the Spanish outlet, have put a “succulent offer” on the table.
Turkish side Fener have done likewise, but any decision from the player will not come until “well into January”.

The San Sebastian side are said to have imposed a deadline of January for Januzaj to renew. If not, then the LaLiga side will most probably look to sell the player rather than see him leave for free in July.

Januzaj has scored once in 10 games this season, but he has scored 19 goals and earned 19 assists in 134 games since arriving in 2017 from Man Utd.

Januzaj’s Man Utd buy-back clause

Januzaj left the Red Devils in 2017 after six years at the club. He came through the youth ranks before making his debut in 2013 under David Moyes.

The Scottish boss gave him plenty of opportunities despite his tender age. But the arrival of Louis van Gaal in July 2014 saw a change in the youngster’s fortunes.

He made just seven starts among 18 Premier League outings in 2014-2015 and the writing was on the wall. Loans to Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland followed before he penned terms with Real Sociedad for a fee of around £9.8m.

United inserted a buy-back clause into Januzaj’s deal with Sociedad. It will expire in 2022, and when asked about it in February the Brussels-born ace refused to rule anything out.

“I don’t know,” he told The Manchester Evening News. “ “Football is football, anything can happen.

“I’m in the best moment of my career, I’m enjoying my football here, and then whatever will come for me, we will see.”
