West Ham to employ familiar strategy as they rival Brentford for impressive duo
West Ham are looking to the Championship to strengthen their squad, as Hull City duo Keane Lewis-Potter and Jacob Greaves catch their eye.
The Hammers have been no strangers to acquiring players from the second tier. Indeed, both Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma have impressed since moves from the Championship.
Bowen, in particular, has had a fantastic season with West Ham. He is the side’s top scorer this term, with 12 goals in all competitions.
Given that success, David Moyes is looking to replicate that move. A report from 90min states that the Hammers are keen on Hull duo Lewis-Potter and Greaves.
Lewis-Potter is the Tigers’ top goalscorer this season with seven goals. He has continued the form he was able to produce in League One the season prior, when he scored 13 goals.
There are a lot of parallels between the 21-year-old and Bowen. Of course, Bowen was signed from Hull, in the Championship, after multiple good seasons in front of goal.
It seems Lewis-Potter could well have a similar impact. What’s more, Moyes is well versed in waiting until the right moment to unleash his players, giving them the best chance to succeed.
The Hammers are also keen on Greaves, a Hull centre-back. Moyes’ side have struggled with the position all season thanks to long-term injuries, but Greaves would provide another option at the back.
Brentford are also said to be interested in the pair.
However, a move to West Ham would be much more attractive. Indeed, they are battling for a top-four finish, and playing in the Europa League.
Lewis-Potter and Greaves join Bamba on shortlist
In other news, West Ham are reportedly interested in Lille winger Jonathan Bamba.
The winger was key to Lille’s title-winning Ligue 1 campaign last season, having a direct hand in 17 league goals.
What’s more, he is valued at just £16.5million.
As such, he would be a steal, should the Hammers manage to land him.
