Wheels in motion for deal that could see Wolves star depart Molineux

Wolves left-back Marcal may soon leave the club, as Wolves are reportedly in negotiations with Botafogo regarding a deal for the star.

Marcal joined Wolves from Lyon in the summer if 2020. To this point, the Brazilian defender has made just 30 appearances for the Molineux outfit.

Indeed, Marcal has started 15 Premier League games this season. However, Rayan Ait Nouri has also been utilised in the left wing-back position.

Given the promise that the 20-year-old has shown, that position may well become his.

As such, Marcal may find himself without a role at Wolves. Journalist Marcelo Hazan, via Sport Witness, claims that Wolves are negotiating with Botafogo over a deal for Marcal.

Journalist Thiago Franklin reinforces those claims. In fact, negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly ‘moving forward well’.

Furthermore, it is thought that Marcal may move to the Brazilian side in the summer.

He would be part of the ‘ambitious project’ the report states they have planned for the coming years.

With the defender’s contract up in the summer, the move should be able to go through without a fee.

However, due to Marcal’s fringe role in the side, that should not be too much of a concern for Wolves.

Marcal and Neves could move on

Another player who is tipped for the exit door at Wolves is Ruben Neves. The Portuguese midfielder has been subject to interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona.

The Spanish side may have the upper hand in negotiations, for one big reason.

Neves’ agent, Jorge Mendes, is reported to have a good relationship with Barca president Joan Laporta.

The prior relationship could make it easier for Barcelona to striker a deal, over Man Utd and Arsenal.
