Agent attempts to push potentially prolific striker to Tottenham – but could be silenced

The agent of Romelu Lukaku would prefer him to join Tottenham Hotspur over Inter Milan, but the second option remains more likely for the Chelsea man, according to one reporter.

Lukaku’s move to Chelsea from Inter last summer has not gone to plan. He has found himself in a system he is less happy in, leading to fewer scoring opportunities. Indeed, he has scored just five Premier League goals this season so far.

Should Chelsea be cleared to do transfer business in the summer, Lukaku may find himself at risk of a premature exit. In that event, a return to Inter has been speculated – if he can drop his wage demands to facilitate it.

However, there could be other options for the 28-year-old. Paris Saint-Germain have also reportedly identified him as a target.

What’s more, there have been links with a move across London to reunite with Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.

And either of those options would be preferable to an Inter return for his agent Federico Pastorello, it has now been claimed.

That said, the author of such a statement – journalist Fabio Bergomi – has conceded that Pastorello will listen to Lukaku’s wishes. Specifically, that may make an Inter move more likely.

Of the chances of a Serie A return, Bergomi told CMIT TV: “They tell me it’s on the home stretch. The salary is reduced, the payment is not complicated due to the problems of Chelsea.

Lukaku could resist Tottenham push

“The only one who doesn’t want to bring him [to Inter] is agent Pastorello, because if he takes it to other places like Tottenham or PSG maybe he earns more.

“But this time in my opinion he is silent because he has already earned from the transfer to Chelsea, and he listens to the player.”

Lukaku was much more prolific during his two-season tenure as Inter’s star striker. He scored 34 and 30 goals in each campaign respectively.

Chelsea have not got what they were expecting from an investment that cost them nearly £100m. If they can cut their losses, it may be in everyone’s best interests to end their second experiment together.
