Wolves skipper Coady makes big Liverpool claim as title race enters crunch time

Wolves skipper Conor Coady has made a big claim regarding the Premier League title race, and his side could have a major say in where the trophy goes.

Coady spent the early years of his career with the Reds before venturing into senior football at Anfield. Liverpool played a big part in Coady’s development as a professional footballer. In fact, the Scouser was captain of the academy side for a period of time.

However, he has truly made a name for himself at Wolves. The 29-year-old has amassed 311 appearances for the West Midlanders, and has been the side’s official captain since the 2018/19 campaign.

Given he got his start at Liverpool, it could be fair to assume that he would want them to win the Premier League this season. Of course, the Reds are still one point behind Manchester City, with just seven games remaining.

However, Coady has made a big claim regarding the title race.

“I hope they don’t both go and win all the games if I’m being honest with you because we’re on there,” he said on premierleague.com.

Indeed, Coady’s Wolves side are currently eighth in the league. Furthermore, they could earn European football, should results go their way from now until the end of the season.

The Molineux outfit have a tough run, though, given they are still to play the top two.

Wolves could have a say in where the title ends up. The Liverpool game is on the last day of the season, and whichever way that result goes could go a long way to determining the title winner.

Coady feels Manchester City are favourites

City have a one-point advantage over Liverpool, and Coady feels that currently makes them favourites for the league.

“Manchester City are top of the league, it’s theirs to lose because they’re a point ahead,” he said.

“If you ask anybody now you’d rather be in Manchester City’s position with seven games to go.”

Indeed, if City do not drop points from now until the end of the season there is nothing that Liverpool can do. However, either side battling for the top spot could slip up, and it is sure to be an interesting race until the end of the campaign.
